Dear Simonds Community: 

Welcome all new and returning families to the 2024-2025 school year. I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and had a chance to enjoy quality time with family and friends. On behalf of this year's PTA Board, we are looking forward to partnering with all of you to bring events and programs that will enrich and broaden your students' experiences in school.  

To help prepare you for the first day of school and beyond, please be sure to read through the Welcome Back Information that Mrs. Strockis sent via ParentSquare, which includes information like school start and dismissal times, classroom assignments, various policies, and a lot more!

The following includes information about first day of school logistics, bell schedules, school/district policies, TK/Kinder orientation, PTA Meet & Greet, and other important information for new and returning families. Please be sure to read through everything carefully. 

Simonds PTA is excited to be hosting a Welcome Breakfast for our wonderful teachers and staff on Tuesday, August 6th, 8 - 9 am.  

We are so grateful for all that Simonds teachers and staff do for the Simonds community and we wish them a productive and fun year ahead. 

Join your Simonds PTA on Wednesday, August 7th, 3 - 6 pm, for a Meet & Greet in the School Courtyard. Hope to see you there! 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help with the Meet & Greet! We need volunteers to help with the Clothes Closet/Uniform Sale mentioned above. You do not need to be cleared to volunteer through the district for this event. If interested, please send an email to simondsptapresident@gmail.com.

Pre-Ordered Supply Kits

If you pre-ordered a supply kit to donate to your classroom, the kits will be available for pick up at the Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 7th, 5 - 6 pm.   

You may deliver the items to your child’s classroom on the first day of school.

Supply Lists

If you did not pre-order a supply kit and would like to purchase optional supplies on your own, supply lists will be provided soon by grade level. Please stay tuned!

NOTE: Sign-up sheet for volunteering will be shared with the Simonds community soon!

In order to make our Simonds PTA events and programs a success, we NEED you! Research shows that children perform better when parents/guardians are engaged in education both at home and at school. Parent/guardian involvement boosts student achievement. By volunteering, you get to know the teachers and staff better and make life-long friends with others at the school. Please consider donating a few hours of your time. It's fun, healthy and rewarding! 

Whether you chose to volunteer in the classroom or for a specific PTA event, all new and returning volunteers are required to 1) complete the SJUSD Volunteer Application, 2) get a TB clearance, and 3) complete fingerprinting and a background check with the district. 

Again, all NEW and RETURNING VOLUNTEERS are REQUIRED to COMPLETE the SJUSD Volunteer Application.

Please review the updated school drop-off and pick-up rules below and watch Simonds students share ways we keep our roads, crosswalks and parking areas safe.  

• Do not speed
• Do not double park
• Do not bypass crosswalks
• Do not block access to disabled parking spaces
• Do not park in the disabled parking spaces without a Disabled Placard
• Do not park in white Loading Zones and leave your car to pick up or drop off - this disrupts the flow of traffic for other parents waiting to enter the loading zones
• Do not park in the Red Zone, Bus Zone, crosswalks or driveways even if it's just for a minute
• Do not drop off or pick up at the parking lot on Grapevine Way

Please DO:

• Use kind words
• Drive slowly
• Use crosswalks
• Look twice at intersections
• Use your assigned entry gate for entering and exiting school
